D-day (Juno beach)

Imagine yourself as a Canadian solider sitting in a land craft, about to take part in the largest amphibious landing in history, as you look around you see solders, by days end most of them will be dead. As you sit deep in thought you here a loud explosion, you look to your left and you see a capsized landing craft in flames, that's when it all starts the German guns open up there helpless, suddenly your landing craft jerks up onto the shore, the gate drops and your off dodging gunfire, your only goal, make it off the beach.

D-day was the invasion of the allied fores into fortress Europe., the landings took place on the beaches of Normandy, the beach that the Canadians were supposed to take was Juno beach. Nearly 160,000 solders took place in the Normandy landings the Canadians fought a bloody battle on Juno beach, but there were also Canadians in the air, Canadian paratroopers landed 6 hours before the main force to disable bridges etc...  The main landing force came in at 6:30 AM on June 6th 1944 and of course there were the paratroopers who jumped into occupied France a 12:00 AM on June 6 1944. The Canadians approached the beach only to find that that there modified amphibious Sherman battle tanks had been delayed so now they where landing under heavy fire and exposed. When the tanks finally came a quarter of them had fell victim to the powerful German guns and German mines.

On the beaches it seemed like the mission would fail because the Germans would reinforce the beach head but thanks to some phony radio transmission  Adolf Hitler thought that a bigger land will happen in the town of Calais. The Canadians secured the beach and actually mad it the farther than the British and American Army did on that day. The Canadians on the beach thought that the battle was lost because of all the casualties but for the commanders it was a smashing success.

This would mark the beginning of the end for Adolf Hitler as the allies on were on the offensive but this was only the first of many  battles fought, and it would be almost another year before the end of the war. 1944-1945 where the bloodiest years of the war and Germany began developing frightful weapons such as the V1 and V2 rocket bombs, and the jet fighter aircraft. The Canadians took great pride as they marched into Dieppe where 2 years ago a failed landing had brought great sorrow  to the Canadian army.
